NAGLREP, the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals will host their midyear meeting May 15th 2013 from 4-5pm at the Washington DC Omni Shoreham Hotel in the Calvert Room. Immediately following the meeting, NAGLREP will host a complimentary cocktail reception from 6-8pm on the roof deck of Nellies Sports Bar, a fun LGBT themed lounge in Washington DC. The NAGLREP midyear meeting has been strategically planned during the week long midyear meetings of the National Association of REALTORS.
2013 is a very important year for LGBT Fair Housing and NAGLREP’s mission of advocacy and business. It was in 2007 that Jeff Berger established NAGLREP with a mission of advocacy and business and since that time NAGLREP along with the WRA introduced a proposal which advanced to include sexual orientation to the National Association of REALTORS Code of Ethics as of January 1, 2011. NAGLREP is presently working to see that gender identity is also included to the National Association of REALTORS Code of Ethics. As of May 2012 the National Association of REALTORS Diversity Committee had voted unanimously on NAGLREP’s proposal to include gender identity protections to the National Association of REALTORS Code of Ethics. Then in November 2012 during the NAR Annual Meetings in Orlando the National Association of REALTORS Professional Standards Committee and Board of Directors both voted in favor of the proposal. Finally this November 2013 during the National Association of REALTORS Annual Meetings in San Francisco, the National Association of REALTORS Delegate Body will cast the final vote and if the item passes then gender identity protections will be inclusive to the National Association of REALTORS Code of Ethics and will go into effect January 1, 2014.
